China’s steel structure materials are one of the important sources of the world’s steel structures. Many engineering contractors or owners will go to China to choose a steel structure manufacturing plant.It has become a difficult problem to choose the right one from the many manufacturers. Some clients have also experienced losses before working with us, so we share some experiences here.
Now some client owners only look at price rather than quality. When many customers pick up a quotation, they only pay attention to the price, and pay no attention to the material and standard of the material. But I have to tell you that steel buildings constructed with low quality not only have a short service life but also have safety risks. Below are some measures to avoid purchasing counterfeit products.
① Look at the material certificate. The most commonly used steel structure grades are Q355B (equivalent to ASTM A572Gr50/EN10034 S355JR) and Q235B (equivalent to ASTM A572Gr50/EN10034 S355JR). Some bad factories will use Q235B instead of Q355B or use materials that do not meet the standard.
② Check whether the material is sandblasted to remove rust. In order to save processing costs, some steel structure manufacturers will remove rust or artificially remove rust. For steel structure materials whose rust removal standard cannot reach sa2.5, the paint adhesion cannot meet the requirements. The paint peels off easily, which reduces the life of the steel structure material.
③ Color steel plate material and thickness. Commonly used color steel plates are galvanized color steel plate (PPGI) and galvanized color steel plate (PPGL). The surface of the color steel plates of these two materials is not much different, but the service life is very different. In some high heat and corrosive environments, the life of galvanized color steel plate is twice that of galvanized color steel plate. The thickness of the color steel plate is also an important factor affecting the price. The thicker the thickness, the thicker the surface coating and the longer the life.
There are many steel structure manufacturers in China, and it is difficult for customers to fully understand the strength of a factory, and some suppliers that do not meet the requirements can be eliminated through scale and manufacturing qualifications. Possessing the manufacturing qualification means that the product quality of this factory is guaranteed. And scale ensures the ability to deliver on time
Different regions have different requirements for steel structures, and steel structure manufacturers that are often exported will provide customers with corresponding experience based on these differences. for example:
①In corrosive environment, it is recommended to use epoxy zinc-rich paint or hot-dip galvanizing on the surface of steel structure;
② Use steel material with letters D/E in cold areas. In the low temperature environment, the steel structure material with the D/E suffix has better toughness;
③ Wind and earthquake resistance and heat insulation requirements. There are tropical cyclones along the Pacific coast, earthquakes are prone to occur at the junction of continental plates, and summer temperatures near the equator are high. Experienced steel structure manufacturers will give advice based on the location of the customer’s project, so as to obtain a safe and comfortable steel structure building.
